The simple and effective laundry guide to take care of your laundry

Taking care of your laundry also means taking care of yourself. To make your favorite clothes last longer and come out looking perfect every time, all you need to do is adopt the right habits. Follow our practical and stress-free laundry guide.

The most important thing is the pre-wash step. And yes, because finding your favorite white shirt that has turned pink can be irritating... Oh, does that sound familiar?

Prepare your laundry well before washing

First, empty all the pockets of the clothes in the laundry basket. And always! Generally, we don't really want to find our headphones drowned and burnt out after loyal service. Or that bill, recognizable only by the color of the little pile it now forms...

Now that you have the garment in your hands, you can take the opportunity to zip up all its zippers, which will protect the other textiles and their seams.

Then we inspect the garment, looking for that little trace of strawberry jam that is unforgiving. No stain will resist you!

If everything is ok, turn the garment inside out to ensure the most effective washing possible.

Sorting, the weapon against unpleasant surprises

Our clothes don't all require the same care, so it's best to sort them according to their categories.

• Sort by color : a classic, but essential. Whites, light colors, and dark colors should be washed separately.
• Sort by material : Lace or delicate underwear deserve a laundry bag. Wool or cashmere should be hand washed or on a delicate cycle.

Tip: If you have the space, invest in three laundry baskets so you can sort as you go. A guaranteed time saver!

The right program makes all the difference

Last step before pressing start, and finally hearing that satisfying “click” of a job done: you’ve chosen the right cycle!

You don't need 12 programs to do it right, it's the temperature you set that counts:

• By hand : for very delicate materials such as silk, wool or velvet.

• 30°C : suitable for all light and delicate fabrics.

• 40°C : ideal for everyday clothes such as t-shirts, jeans or shirts.

• 60°C : perfect for household linen (sheets, towels, tea towels).

And to protect the planet, choose short cycles and eco mode if your machine offers it.
