THE LAUNDRY GUIDE

Taking care of your laundry is ultimately a bit like taking care of yourself. So as with everything, there are some rules to follow and principles essentials to know in order to be sure to do well. Here we go over the basics, step by step, with our laundry guide to help you launch your next laundry. A little reminder never hurts !

The most important is the pre-wash step. And yes, because finding your favorite white shirt that has faded pink can be irritating... Oh, does that speak to you?

DOUBLE-CHECK THE GARMENT BEFORE SLIDING IT INTO THE DRUM R

First, all the pockets of the clothes in the laundry basket are emptied. And this, systematically! Generally, we don't really want to find our headphones drowned and grilled after loyal service. Or even this note recognizable only by the color of the small cluster that it now forms...

Now that you have the garment in your hands, you can take the opportunity to zip all its zippers, which will protect the other textiles and their seams.

We then inspect the garment, looking for the small trace of strawberry jam that does not forgive. No task will resist you!

If everything is ok, we return the garment, in order to provide it with the most effective washing possible.

SORTING TO AVOID BAD SURPRISES AFTER LAUNDRY

Our clothes do not all require the same care, so it is best to sort them according to their categories.

We place the most fragile textiles, such as underwear, tights or even lace, in nets to avoid unpleasant surprises when putting on our tights the next morning.

Of course, we also sort the clothes according to their colors. The ideal is to have 3 separate baskets: white laundry basket, colored laundry basket and dark laundry basket in which the dirty laundry is distributed as and when. That way, no careless mistakes.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT PROGRAM

Last step before pressing start, and finally hearing this satisfying “click” of the work done: we choose the appropriate cycle! Some machines almost seem smarter than us, offering more than 10 choices, each more precise than the next. But we believe above all in the temperature to be set. The rest is up to you. Of course, we must favor short cycles to limit our water and energy consumption. Some machines even have an eco mode, and this one is our favorite.

But back to our temperatures. What will help you make the right choice is the label. If you're anything like us… Chances are you've cut them.

Don't worry, we've listed a few simple rules for you:

• By hand: the best friend of very delicate garments. Silk, wool, velvet, cashmere
• 30 degrees: the safe temperature for all textiles, even mademoiselle lace.
• 40 degrees: the most used for the most worn garments. Jeans, cotton t-shirt, blouses
• 60 degrees: the ally of household linen. Towels, sheets, tea towels
