Our tips for drying your laundry so that it stays soft, fragrant and wrinkle-free
That's it, your laundry is freshly washed. The last step before you can finally put on your deliciously scented clothes: drying.
Whether you're a fan of tumble dryers in general, or rather city dwellers - like us! - we're giving you our tips for fragrant, quick, and above all effective drying.
NATURAL, INDOOR OR MACHINE DRYING: WHICH METHOD TO CHOOSE?
1. Natural drying
The best way to dry your laundry is, of course, the great outdoors! A gentle late-summer sun, the nearby lavender field swept by the wind, glasses clinking in the distance...
But we agree, we are not all lucky enough to have a garden to dry our sheets and offer this natural freshness to our textiles, or simply to enjoy the sun all year round.
2. Hang your laundry inside your home.
But unless you have a laundry room or a large property, this method isn't the most practical if you don't want to have to zigzag between your favorite jeans and the sink to reach your bathtub. Also, if you use this drying method - which will certainly perfume your home - don't forget to air your home frequently to avoid damp odors.
3. The dryer
The last method will save you time and space (yes, we assure you, you will no longer have to display your fluffy pajamas to your friends coming for dinner !)
These are washer-dryers: it's an investment, but your decor will thank you.
USING YOUR TUMBLE DRYER PROPERLY: OUR PRACTICAL ADVICE
You've mastered drying techniques and have opted for a powerful drying machine. Here are our tips for successfully completing your drying cycles:
- Wring your laundry manually, this will reduce drying time.
- Choose the right program: “synthetic”, “cotton”, “intensive”, “delicate”, “wool”, or even “iron ready”… Select the one that best suits the types of clothes to be dried.
- Don't overload your drum. Use several short cycles rather than one long one, and take advantage of the heat of one cycle to run several cycles in a row.
- Be careful not to let the dryer run for too long, for ecological reasons, but also for the well-being of your clothes.
- At the end of a cycle, systematically clean the filter.
After these steps, all you have to do is iron - or not! if you're a wrinkled clothes person - and fold your laundry. Go read our tutorial on how to organize your dressing room or cupboards .
